Sensei Jim Buchen
Jim Buchen has been training in karate since 1981 and has been a full time karate instructor since 1993. He is a Yon Dan (4th Degree Black Belt) in Shotokan Karate and a San Dan (3rd Degree Black Belt) in Ju-Jitsu. Sensei Jim has had great success as a kumite competitor. He is a ten time National Champion winning national titles in four federations (USANKF, AAU, USAKF, ASKA). He has been a member of the United States Karate team since 1994, competing in 8 World Championships. In 1997 Mr. Buchen was a Pan American Gold Medal winner and a Gold Medal winner at the 2005 World Championships. Mr. Buchen has also trained and coached many National Champions that have competed internationally, successfully bringing home medals for the United States both on the junior and senior teams. Mr. Buchen has been married to his wife, Angela since 1999, and has 2 children, Abigail & Lukas.
Sensei Justin Wachtendorf
Sensei Justin has always had a passion for Martial Arts. He is a Shodan (1st degree Black Belt) in Shotokan Karate, a Nidan (2nd degree Black Belt) in Yamanaka Kojute JuJitsu, and a Shodan (first degree Black Belt) in Taiho-Jutsu. Sensei Justin is also the current Mixed Martial Arts 155lb Extreme Challenge Amateur Title Belt Holder in the United States with a record of 10-0. Additionally, he is the 2009 USANKF National Karate Champion. In 2005 and 2006 he was the USJJF Duo Team National Champion in JuJitsu. Sensei Justin attended Western Illinois University and majored in Physical Education. He enjoys traveling and scuba diving in his spare time.
Sensei Chapman "Luke" Lucas
Sensei Luke has been in karate for the past 10 years. He has been South Carolina State Champion 3 times and has placed 2nd at the United States National Karate Championships in 2009 and 2010. Sensei Luke is currently attending The Citadel and majoring in Health & Wellness, while also participating on the Rugby Team. In his spare time he enjoys playing disc golf.
